Recently, I learned about the passing of a professor I had while in college. He was instrumental in providing career advice as I navigated my way through the nonprofit sector.

His recent passing has left me thinking about the benefits of having a solid career circle compromised of individuals rallying for your success.

In a previous post on social media, I shared what this career circle is compromised of.

What is a career circle? A network that consists of people who provide positive and honest feedback in your career. These individuals are your ultimate cheerleaders.

  1. Career Coach- helps you determine what you want to do to explore opportunities for growth in your current position
  2. Resume Writer- enhances, tailors, or creates a resume so you can stand out in the job market.
  3. Mentors- share their skills and knowledge to help you grow.
  4. Support System-is anyone from a trusted friend or relative to even a therapist.

Overall, these individuals help with:
  • Guidance
  • Motivation
  • Accountability in career goals
  • Honest feedback on your cover letter, resume, or interviewing techniques
  • Trusted partner in your journey of wins, losses, and more!

If you are in a career transition,  are interested in seeking advancement, or simply love what you do, consider having these individuals in your career circle. They can provide the following benefits for your career journey:

The recent passing of my professor has left me thinking about individuals that impact my career life. The people that provide the nugget of truth and wisdom when you need it. Doing life alone, especially in your pursuit of career happiness can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be the norm. Seek out people like old professors and ask for mentorship, solicit assistance from a career coach, trusted spouse, or me If you need resources to help you get started, I'm happy to help!

Just know that a solid career circle will rally for your success. Best of luck!
