For my last blog post of the year, I wanted to spotlight a nonprofit. What I enjoy most about highlighting nonprofit resources, organizations, or entrepreneurs in the sector is the opportunity to learn more about their mission's purpose to further a social cause by providing a public benefit. It is even more rewarding to learn of newly formed nonprofit organizations like Pennies 4 Pads.
Pennies 4 Pads is a Houston, Tx based nonprofit, operating in third-world countries like India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. The organization strives to address issues such as lack of access to feminine hygiene products and other menstrual-related health issues by donating free sanitary pads to underprivileged school girls.
Over a Million pads have already been donated with spectacular results in improved health conditions and reduced school absenteeism.
Pennies 4 Pads strives to address the issue of lack of access to feminine hygiene products amongst schoolgirls in rural India.
They distribute FREE sanitary pads in schools, funded by donations collected through their website. Pennies 4 Pads has created a channelized production and distribution network of eco-friendly, low-cost sanitary pads. A correlation between the availability of pads and better school attendance has clearly been established since they've been providing this support.
Their vision is to distribute 3 million pads every year, bringing comfort and dignity to 25000 girls.
