🎃 Happy Halloween & Feliz Día de los Muertos! 💀🌼

As we honor those who’ve passed, let’s also honor ourselves in the job search. Finding the right role shouldn’t feel like surviving a horror movie — so let’s talk about a few tricks to avoid when you’re looking for a position that truly supports and values you.

⛔️ Vague job descriptions

Watch out for listings that sound overly general or unclear, especially when the role requires high technical or social-emotional skills. Specific expectations signal a company that knows what it needs — and respects your expertise.

⛔️ Hidden challenges

If the application process feels unnecessarily complicated or the communication from HR is inconsistent, that’s a red flag. You shouldn’t have to chase down updates; the employer should be just as proactive in following up with you.

⛔️ Interviewing for the wrong fit

Sometimes we convince ourselves that certain skills are transferable when they really aren’t — or we apply for jobs that don’t align with our experience or long-term goals. Trust your gut when something feels “off.”

⛔️ Lack of benefit transparency

When compensation or benefits aren’t clearly listed in the job description, on the website, or openly discussed in interviews, that’s a sign to dig deeper. You deserve clarity from the start.

⛔️ Disrespectful or slow hiring processes

If the hiring team is uncommunicative, disorganized, or unprofessional, take note. The interview process often mirrors company culture.

Stay mindful, follow your intuition, and seek roles that align with your values, goals, and well-being. Your career journey should bring clarity, purpose, and a sense of peace — not fear or confusion.

💫 Wishing you a meaningful Día de los Muertos and a spooky, joy-filled Halloween. 👻

And yes… these scary friends behind me totally approve!
